Good article on the history of the combat commander, this is probably my favorite 1911 variant of this weapon. These are great for duty and CCW carry, most manufacturers have this in there inventory no matter what the caliber is.

Hey Anni I have a Colt 80 series in .45 cal. You are right; it is a great CCW. Buy a Combat Commander in 9mm is on my bucket list.

I don’t have a Colt, but I got the Kimber version of the light weight in .45

I don't have the Colt version either, but I do have a Llama Max II 13 rd. version.

I too had a combat commander in .45 back in late 80’s, bought it off a police officer, not much wear. My friend at SSK Industries wanted it bad, sold it to him, big time Colt collector.

If a 1911 style gun in any caliber was the only choice for an automatic I'd be shooting revolvers only! If it wasn't for the g21 I wouldn't be shooting 45acp. They've shown too be good guns, but not in my hands! Hammers don't count!

The pistol I learned to shoot handgun on. This firearm, will always be number one in pistols to me, in 9mm or 45 acp either one.
