Nice thing about the. 44 or .357s here in Michigan is that they can be used in the shotgun only zone since they are a straight walled handgun cartridge. Much preferred them personally to a shotgun.

The 1894 models have always been the pistol calibers; i.e. .357 & 44 mag, whereas the 30/30 was/is in the Model 336.

The rifle cartridges were 1893. The 336 didn't come until the 1940s.

I'm a Winchester guy myself.
But I certainly can't deny that Marlin makes a great rifle. I'm wondering how the new Rugers compare to the older JM Marlins? Surely they're better than the Remlins. I guess time will tell.
But at $1200, I wonder how well they'll sell?

My buddy is looking at one now. It’s either going to be that or a Henry. He wants it in .357 and drilled and tapped for a red dot.
