First Look: Federal Premium Ammunition New Train plus Protect Loads

Interesting article. It’s not always cost effective to shoot my Federal HST .45ACP JHP at the range when practicing. I’d like to see some ballistic tests on this line and the cost of a box. It’s always good to train with the ammo that you carry everyday every once in a while but I’m stingy with my 9mm, .40 and .45 ACP due to cost. It’s be nice to be able to carry what you train with.

Back in the Day my Department issued Mdl 66 S&W Revolvers & Our Issue Carry Ammo was the 357 magnums Federal 125 grain Jacked Hollow Point we practiced with semi wadcutters but for qualification, we were issued 100 rounds of our duty ammo 50 rounds for practice and 50 for qualification. And we had to qualify every 6 months with the duty ammo but could go anytime and shoot the wadcutter ammo for 10 bucks for 150 rounds of wadcutter ammo reloaded on site. The Magnums were a lot hotter than the semi-wadcutter ammo. But they gave us an incentive to practice. A Semi wad cutter reload is better to practice with than nothing.
