Florida bill toughens penalties for juveniles with illegal guns

I think the bill by making it a felony will allow the Florida courts to charge juveniles as adults and lock them up. Right now the juvenile system is a revolving door and judges hands are often tied. Many of these feral "children" are dangerous criminals who need to be behind bars. LE and The courts really need to come down hard on these youthful hoods, they need the tools.

as it is at least here, a juvi is set free when he/she turns 18...to me, that is BS.

charge them as adults if they do an "adult crime" at the age of 11...

stealing a candy bar is kid stuff, i am talking murder, shooting, stabbing, etc, etc.

Also Hayes the Feds don't usually want to prosecute juveniles. My son has had to deal with this where juveniles have been arrested and are in possession of stolen firearms. Then it is up to the local prosecuter to press the issue.

As long there are catch and release DA's with no-bail any new bills without teeth are just another feel good bill.
Thanks for saving me the trouble of typing it. It could be the toughest bill in the world but if the DA is not going to prosecute it's meaningless.

Isn't it already a felony?

If the kid takes the family car and goes out and gets drunk are the parents also responsible for that?
Years ago when I worked in a middle school one of my students took his sister's car (without permission of course) and totaled it. She had to have him charged with auto theft in order to get the insurance company to cover her loss.

I live just far enough from chicago, but I can see what a lazy DA and a useless mayor brings to this city.
But keep voting the way they are voting they will keep getting what they are getting.
Thankfully my health is better and I never have to go there again.
Happiness is seeing that city in the rear-view mirror....
