Fluid Transfer Monolithic Bullets: Next Gen Defensive Cartridge?

i don't know...the "new" ammo makes the hole bigger, but unlike a hollow point, it can exit the body and hit someone else..???

to me, this just amounts to a FMJ for self defense rather than a hollow point.

nah, i ain't into having anyone else be injured, i'll refrain from this new bullet.

then too, it states it makes the hole bigger...then for christ sakes, carry a 45.

I expected that of you. I would have been disappointed otherwise.

I do utilize the underwoods presented here, but, as others have pointed out, we'll have to wait and see after several shootings to determine effectiveness. There are so many factors in "stopping power, effectiveness etc". I like that the projectile manufacturers are trying to improve things but I remain cautiously skeptical.

which is why I have alternated them in any mag with the usual JHPs +P of whatever caliber. JIC. What did catch my interest to start with for these cross- nosed type rounds is their ability to punch through auto glass - the tests and videos, from more than one manufacturer do make a case for their inclusion.

Always great discussions on wound channels, ballistics, energy, speed, bullet shape/type and so on. Let's face it though, pistols are not the best at ending life quickly. A modern rifle is best for that but - the problem with them is size and weight etc. So we make do with a choice and hope for the best....

I disagree. A modern rifle is no better than a pistol. Rifle just offers range.
Thousands, actually tens of thousands have been shot with a modern rifle in war and survive.

A solid copper bullet at high speed sounds like a shoot through just waiting to happen.

Actually, in war, a wounded enemy soldier is better than a dead one. He's out of the fight, at least one and possibly two other soldiers will have to care for and evac him, so they're out of the fight, and he will still use up food, water, and medical supplies. All due to mandated FMJ ammo.

Keep in mind there's a huge difference between the military fmj and modern expanding rifle rounds. Once you get into the velocity realms of 2000-2200fps you have more hydrostatic effects causing a larger permanent wound channel and that is compounded when you have controlled expansion HP and Soft Tip ammo going at 2500-2800 fps.
