Interesting, a 22lr from FN in the FN 502. Similar to ergonomics to the FN 509, is optics ready, and comes in 10 or 15 round capacities with a thread barrel. Looks like they've followed others (like Glock and S&W, et. al.), in having a 22lr with the same ergonomics of their larger 9mm pistols.

Technically, you still wouldn’t own an FN if you got this 502; it’s made by Umarex.

Not that that’s a bad thing; I’ve got a MP5A3/22 that’s made by Walther/Umarex that’s a solid performer; use it as a training analog for my Z5RS.
That's interesting, thanks Hans.

I've never owned or fired an FN product, but I'm always happy to see manufacturers releasing .22 LR semi-autos with standard capacity mags (where legal). I trained my boys and their cousins with a Ruger SR22 when they were little, and they still love that gun for sentimental reasons. I never really shot it much because I had pistols in other calibers with affordable ammo (at the time).

I picked up a Taurus TX22 when 9mm ammo started spiking in price and disappearing from shelves. I enjoy shooting the TX22 more than I would've thought, and have put nearly 1000 rounds through it. I really think the 16-round mags are what made the difference. The main reason I've never bought a Glock 44 is that they decided to go with 10-round mags. I'm happy to see FN (like Beretta, Taurus, and Kel-Tec) giving shooters in free states the ability to plink with more than 10 rounds.

I too love my TX-22 Seriously fun to shoot. I was looking at the Glock and the difference was the 16 round mags. I have purchased the Tandemkross 5 round extensions that really add to the fun except reloading them . lol My excuse to purchase this was during the bummer administration 22lr was sometimes hard to find so when ever my wife saw some she would make the purchase. So I needed a new way to burn that powder.

Good news and write up, thanks.
The 22's typical 10 round count can be a minor pain for plinking.
Multiple extra mags help, but isn't quite the same. 15 rounds on up make more sense for 22 plinking. Would love to see more drums available.
