They made 2; an early, tube-fed model, and then one (Deerfield) that used a rotary mag, a-La 10/22 writ large.

The 77/44 was a bolt-action.

A blast from the past.

I was hired by Mossberg in 2010 to make bolt action gun stocks and worked extensively with design engineers to ensure structural integrity for use with multiple calipers and built programs and designed tooling for CNC machining from a blank to near finished product.
The walnut stock in that picture is my finished stock.
