Found some

the obsrver

Master Class
Finally picked up some 9mm and a couple hundred rounds of 556. I have to drive a ways to get to a gun/ammo store and so I only go once in awhile. I stop every time I am in town and today after several months of trying I found some. The 9 wasn't cheap at 46 cents per round, but I was at a stand still as far as what I am comfortable having on hand. I actually had less than I am comfortable with. The 556 was not as nice at almost $1 a round for some 62 grain. But I was extremely low on it. I said no, but my wife turned around and went back and picked it up as part of a birthday present.

I haven't been able to find anything locally for less than $1 a round for 5 or 6 months. Found 9mm and 5.56/223 for .70 to .80 a round on line but...have to buy 1000 rounds to get that price. I'm getting tired of dry fire practice and my RO says it looks kind of funny at the range. lol Thinking I'm going to wait till the prices come down before buying, have enough for protection just not target.

Sounds like your wife is F'ing awesome.

I can get 124 gr. NATO every couple weeks at my local Farm and Home for $16 per 50 rd. box This past Saturday I bought three 150 rd. boxes of .62 gr. Green Tips for $100 per box. They have a 3 limit box on everything.

I feel ya. I did a bunch of work to some stuff so I wanted to try it out, plus I wanted to get the wife to the range some more and could not find much. I could find it online, but I am not paying that much.
Now I feel like I can go sight some stuff in, see how the mods are working out and let her get some time in with her edc.
That was about as much as I am willing to pay for range 9mm. Way more than I would have liked for the 556.
Maybe possibly it's starting to catch up, but who knows another guy there said he drives by everyday and stops in and he said it would all be gone today. They had a 3 box limit, so between that guy and my wife and I that was 450 rounds and they had maybe another 6-7 hundred left.
I like the limit right now though, because people will exploit the situation if not. They are already finding ways around it.
It's nice to be able to go shoot a little and even with all the rounds being sold the ranges are empty around here, so people are either stock piling or reselling it. Which sucks for us that just want to go practice and enjoy shooting.

You got a better deal on 556. I had a order in for some 124 nato, I kept it in for a long time because I ordered it at a lower price. I finally cancelled it because our 9's are not rated for it and because it was not much cheaper per round than what I paid today. Maybe a little, but not much. I ordered it about 2-3 weeks to late and the price was rising by then.

Which 9mm pistols do you have?

A shield, a old hi point, a sub2k 9mm carbine.
I need to pick up another one as my next purchase, and have been reading about the different lines of Springfield. I am not a big fan of small frame or micro guns. (honestly, concealability is not an issue, because I simply do not care who knows) It's not that my hands are huge, but I like fit most important, then recoil (I like to get back on target fast) then capacity (knowing that 1 or even 2 9mm might not do the job).
I also like the idea of a good set of sights standard.
I am picky, but that is because this next one is going to be my go to for a very long time.
I would like to try out the rdp because it just might fit the bill. With different mags it should fit just about any hand. Otherwise it fits almost every other item on my wish list.

Well a few boxes here and there wouldn’t hurt anything. At least in the Shield. NATO is slightly hotter than standard 124 Gr. but less than +P. If you ran it continually it would put excess wear on the RSA, but......

My local shop has changed there ammo policy now, 200 rounds a day, but they only have the most common calibers, no limit on 5.56 or shotgun now. No .22lr period.

I managed to stumble upon 400 round ammo cans of Federal 5.56 on the shelves at my local Academy this afternoon. I was in absolute shock. $269/ea. I picked up two because I knew I would regret it if i didn't. Still hurt to see the total at the register though.
