FP 10 oil..??

Old_Me

SAINT
anyone here use this?

i took my Kimber to the range the other day.

i had last used it on: March of this year, so only about 3 months ago??

i spoke of the Weapon Shield "oil" which is actually a synthetic lube (which many of you might know).

well this gun, after oly this short time?

looked COMPLETELY DRY.....(unlike say, Hoppe's 9 where you can actually see it was oiled)

i had asked back months ago, if it is possible for any oil to "evaporate"

as i have seen other guns of mine, in storage for about 6 months before i get to use them, appeared to be "bone dry"

this is disconcerting to me.

the guy at the bait/tackle/gun store, who does own guns, some very old revolvers in fact, spoke highly of FP 10 elite.

do any/many of you use this FP 10 as well?

thanks in advance.

I used this years ago, if I am not mistaken it’s made by the same company that makes Shooter Choice solvent, I used this oil on my bolt rifles when I had rifles, worked good, I used it on the lugs on the bolt

I have for years used Wilson Combat Ultimate Lube. I am a lot more meticulous about cleaning and lubing my firearms than the average bear. When I sold my pre ban MT6700 the guy asked if I ever fired it. I had put over 1500 rounds downrange and it still looked new. Sometimes I over do it but my father taught me that oil is cheaper than metal.

well "we are a pair of coconuts", as i too clean my guns, after every range trip, even if i only shoot a mere 50 round box.

been doing that since day 1, so not as many years as you, since i started in Jan of 2020.

only as recent as 3-4 months ago, i took apart my G-17 slide and got into that for a deeper cleaning (closing in on the 3,000 rds count). but at the time too, i also replaced the OEM safety plunger with that of the "gold" one from the Glock store. it is rounded and makes for a faster operation, or so says the description.

It can shine it up a bit (think wax on a car)…but it more just keeps it from rusting.
Nice. I’ll have to get me some. I have a few floating around that I have done everything I can with Perma Blu, but they still turned out kinda light on the bluing and are prone to rust if they’re not regularly wiped and oiled. The nature of cold bluing I suppose. I’m going to soon make some bluing tanks and teach myself to hot blue. Or try my hand at Cerakote or some other more durable finish. I need to look into something for the twice barreled shoot guns too as those cannot be hot blued.

Duracote is a fairly easy, fairly durable DIY finish. Got a buddy who’s been doing it a while…
