Frame wear

I was cleaning my xdg 9mm mod 2 and noticed some frame wear. I have probably run 2000 to 3000 rounds through it which I don't consider a lot. Does anyone think this is an issue? I sent an email and pics to Springfield armory almost a month ago and haven't gotten a reply.

I don't see anything unusual.

All moving parts scuff themselves when used.

I think it's a non-issue. Unless it's causing function issues (?) I would continue to use it.

Like I said moving parts rub against each other and unless there's a major fault things "break-in".

Hope you're properly lubing it. Keep in mind to change out your recoil springs if felt recoil increases and/or ejection pattern changes dramatically.

Normal, the frame where the slide rides is actually polymer on the back where you took pics, actually there part of the rear frame, the two rails in front are steel and they take the brunt of the slide moving back and forth. So no worries, my original XDm 9mm has the same wear marks. It’s fine.

I just broke it down and you are right. It is steel up front. Guess I just never really paid attention to that detail. Now I feel better. Thanks all. I added a red dot to it recently. Love it.

My Beretta had a lot of failures to feed when I shot cheap ammo in it. In fact, the only thing which never failed to feed was Spear Gold Dot 124 grain hollow point.

Oil didn't fix the problem, but Wilson Combat UltimaLube II Grease did. I started lubricating my slide with it, and the failures to feed all but ended - the cheap ammo hardly ever failed after that.

I then changed the polymer guide rod for a stainless steel guide rod, and that completely eliminated the failures to feed.

I think there will always be at least a little bit of wear whenever you shoot your gun - maybe not much, but a little. A good grease will reduce that wear.
