Full-Size, Mid-Size & Compact Pistols: What’s the Difference?

Good article on the differences between the size of pistols, full, mid-size and compacts. Good information for the new shooter who gets confused on the sizes.

Good article Anni,
One of the best have read on describing, choosing and why about HG sizes and variables.

The;
"Bottom Line When Playing the Size Game;
When choosing a firearm, it’s wise to remember a few rules of thumb.
First, the bigger the gun, the easier it is to control. But the trade-off is concealment.
Second, the smaller the gun, the easier it is to conceal but harder to control."

- Is one the most accurate and simplest statements regarding general HG truth have heard.

I keep it simple, I have two MOD-2 9mm's
Compact for CC and 5.in Tactical for the nightstand, both feel the same and all the controls are the same so when things go bump in the night I don't have much to think about.

That's a good combo. I believe if you are going to carry different pistols they should be the same style with the same controls. Same with revolvers, going to carry rugers, carry rugers, smiths, smith's or somethibg that has a similar function, including cylinder release.

Even our bedside handguns are similar, they use same ammunition, both Smith Jframes and use the same loaders. All picked because of myvwifes extreme familiarity with them.

well, this old man, found that the bigger the better for recoil control.

i have a snub nosed Taurus .38 special "ultra lite" 2.5" , that i may have to dump.. man, that little sucker just ain't nice with the "massive" recoil, compared to the Ruger GP100 2.5" that i have...but, the Ruger is a heavier metal as well.
