That being said, back to the article...

It is impossible to deny the impact and popularity that the AK-47 design has had in the world of firearms. Touching every continent and finding use in almost every conflict since the 1950s, it truly is a legacy firearm. Conversely, it is easy to overlook the Israeli AK and its roots with the Soviet design.

In their nature, both rifles are basically AKs, as they have the same long-stroke gas operating principle. For this comparison, I pulled a Century Arms Romanian-made CGR. This rifle closely represents the modern AKM. For the Galil, we have the more modern ACE Gen II. Both rifles are chambered for 7.62x39mm and feed from standard AK magazines, keeping the variables limited for the comparison.
