'GHOST FEED' YOUR SHOTGUN FOR ONE EXTRA ROUND

Benelli deliberately changed their design to prevent it...

Interesting tip. I'm the type of guy who is curious enough to try it just to see if it works. However, I'm not confident enough to leave the gun stored in that condition. Aside from my usually leaving the chamber empty because most shotguns are not drop-safe, I am always weary of doing anything that might lead to a misfeed at the worst possible time. It still looks like it might be fun to try on the next trip to the family land.

Seems like very limited application. The illegal hunters Hans mentioned and competition being the only practical use I could see. For me personally anyway. I guess if my only shotgun was a Benelli 5 round semi and I couldn't afford to buy something else I might consider it. Probably not though.

One benefit of ghost loading, other than the extra shot...it makes for a really, really fast follow up...to the point that I have “bump fired” it using slugs...at 20 yards, on a silhouette, the first shot aimed at belly-button level, the second shot smacks center-head, with a split down under .1 seconds. The first time it happened, I though I had a malfunction and it “doubled”...then I learned how to do it on demand.

Only works for your second shot, though...and is hit & miss on buckshot; has to be full-power loads, not reduced recoil.
