Girsan 9mm

I like my Girsan 1911, you can’t beat them price wise and the quality at that price.

I don't know what the article's author is thinking but the Hi-Power, Girsan variant or not, doesn't & never has had a "grip" safety.

Perhaps he was working on two separate gun articles at the same time.

Also, the MC35 Pi will use a different recoil spring so check BHSS for spares since I suspect the shorter slide will wear them out faster than the full-sized Hi-Powers do.

At the end, the author confused grip safety and magazine safety. He also said the original barrel length was 5 inches instead of 4.7". Maybe he just had 1911 on the brain while writing about the Girsan HP.
I have the full size Girsan HP that I like a lot. I would prefer removing the magazine safety, but I have no clue how to do that. I do like their shortened models, but may never acquire one.

Hi,

I found the defensive ammunition discussion interesting. I have some of those "fluted" bullet cartridges but never thought that much about them.

I don't know if I want to put a Hi-Power (clone?) on my list. We'll see. ;)

Thank you for your indulgence,

I'm a long time fan of the Hi-Power and own several of them. I bought a Girsan MC 35 PI when they first came out and really like it. Its a well made pistol, reliable and shoots good. My only complaint is the trigger in mine was awful! Long, gritty and heavy. However, a bit of polishing in the right places improved it much. Its still heavy, but it is clean and crisp. I can live with it. I also took out the mag safety.
My plan is to use this one as a carry gun. (y)
Just FYI for those who may not know, The Hi-Power and its many clones fit almost perfectly in any 1911 holster. ;)

Fluted chamber marks are a hallmark of MP5s/clones and other HK rifles. A few times a year some guy at the range wants to let me know something is wrong.
