Good Week Turning Into Bad Week

So yesterday I get the results back . 12 of us took promotional tests for Sergeant. Five of us myself included passed. Possibility of 3 positions available. I have a lot of support pushing me namely my Chief and Patrol Supervisor Captain. Wife calls a little more than halfway through my tour, Gracie my shepherd/lab mix really really sick so left work, rushed home trip to emergency vets. Tons of shots, antibiotics, tests and diet adjustments and sleep all night by her side on the floor (did my already sore back good) so now have to monitor her very closely and keep an eye on her. Praying to God he watches over her. Sorry folks needed to vent a little here so for that I apologize....

Wolf, so sorry to hear about your four legged friend… they sure do become a part of the family - and a part of us. Prayers for Gracie; post a pic sometime..

And prayers for that promo opportunity, hoping that goes well for you. Just remember, if it doesn’t, others didn’t get it either. And when one door closes, the good Lord always opens another in time 😉.
But I’m betting you're in !!

Just 'telling it like it is' ain't necessarily "venting"!!! Hoping all good things for Gracie ... and for the promotion!!!

Well here's a picture of my Gracie. She's a rescue 10 years old now. My Wife found her through a friend who does rescues. She apparently was dumped on the side of the road somewhere in Virginia when she was just a few weeks old. So after some paperwork and many character references we we cleared to bring her home so we made the drive down from Pennsylvania where she's been ever since. So if you folks want to feel free to post pics of you BEST FRIENDS and maybe the stories of how they came to be with you and your families....

This is Cassie. I met her at the dog park. She was being fostered by someone at the park. She didn’t leave my side both days of the weekend. She was in our home 2 days later. She was my once in a lifetime dog. I lost her at the age of 15 years on 8/2/23. I still miss her.

This is Delilah. She was not ours, but my little brother’s pup. He adopted her from a shelter in San Antonio, TX. She was about 4 years old and very sick with heart worm. She was not expected to survive and was on a list for euthanasia. My brother insisted on having her treated at his expense, as he had been the only human she allowed close.
Long story short, she survived and lived another ten years with my brother. My brother has Type I diabetes and had a hard time controlling it. She was his nurse, per se, as she would make him move and take his meds or make him eat.
When ever she and my brother went to visit my mom and stepdad, she would immediately run to the kitchen to see if the “bacon man” (my stepdad) was there. He would cook up bacon for her. She loved bacon.
She passed about six months ago, and my brother took it so hard, though he knew it was her time.

Even though are furry and feathered family members are becoming more and more domesticated and obviously dependent on us for centuries they had to develop ways to mask ailments so as to not become a target because sickness equals weakness and the inability to provide for the pack.
The sad part of this is our domestic fur babies can be sick a long time before they show symptoms.
Bless you Wolf for acting quickly to get your fury family member to the vet quickly. Prayers to your family for a fast and positive recovery.
