Guess I'll share my video with you guys and gals. TASER Hit.

The article on pepper spray got me thinking about sharing this taser video with you guys and gals.

I mean my first experience with tear gas was in basic training in the Army. (1985) and then with pepper spray a few years later as a MP in the Army.

But for the Taser, over 20 years ago my department issued tasers, but you had to of course take a class and then take a hit before you could carry. Now they didn't shoot you with it, instead they clipped it to your clothing. I thought for sure I could handle it; I've already done so much of less than lethal training and hits in the past.

Anyway, now that I'm retired, I'm allowed to share my videos, you're not usually allowed while still working for a department.

WARNING: Strong language and sexual jokes not only to hide my embarrassment but also to get a laugh from my fellow officers. (Why I was always in trouble with my department. lol)

WOW, just saw that in 7 days this video got over 1k views.... never had any of my boring videos to get over 100 views. lol

Well, I've had my belly laugh for the day! lol

Yes, and even thou the pain is over afterwards, you still need a second or two to pull yourself together before getting up. Theres just a slight and short after effect even thou, they say it's instant on then off feeling. imo
I'm sure your muscles seem like limp noodles as well. From what I looked up tasers are a very effective way to to non-lethally end a threat against you.

I remember tear gas well from basic training some 40ish years ago...I remember it like it was this afternoon. You must remember that the same way. So it must drugs and/or adrenaline (or maybe thick clothing) that allows for some of these taser events I've seen on videos ending with the subject still able to fight or flee. I suppose placement is a key factor as well. Thank you for sharing this. I got my belly laugh too!

I have been tased twice at work. Both times my choice. First time took me right down. The second time I knew what to expect and relaxed myself (martial arts training) and that time wasn't that bad. I will say though I have been pepper sprayed a few times all my choice and that is much much worse. I do not carry a taser at work because I have seen them fail more than once. Great video though enjoyed it. Just my two cents....

Ya, actually I only carried it for a year or two at the most, maybe used it 5 times... once I went K9 I didn't carry it. Not going to use a taser near my dog, could be overkill or maybe hit the dog accidentally. We were required to carry at least one less lethal. Stick, pepper spray, or taser... but as K9 your dog is your less lethal. lol

I was a Taser instructor for my department and I've seen Tasers work and I have seen them fail. The failures could usually be attributed to operator error. By error I mean they didn't deploy the Taser properly as in insufficient spread of the darts, didn't take clothing into account, or failed to hit with both darts. The worst place to apply the taser is two darts to the chest. (not much muscle mass) Of course some shouldn't carry a Taser because they don't care for it properly and ensure it is ready before every shift.

That was very entertaining. Thank you for sharing. And thank you for your service.

About 60-65% effective. If I had to pick one less lethal option it would be O/C (pepper spray) Both tools have pluses and minuses. Taser is less likely to work on people wearing heavy clothing. Pepper spray is obviously dependent on how much wind or rain is present and can really be problematic in confined spaces with other folks present.

We carry tasers for work.
We are not allowed to get tased. The trainers are, but we aren't. I hear it's the longest 5 seconds of your life
We just got the Taser 10s. Pretty cool
10 prongs, i prong per trigger pull, so you need to shoot at least twice. It will automatically charge once it has a good connection. You can also get more than one person then, too. Soi fi you get one guy with say 3 shots, you still have 7 left for another one or two. Downside is if one is compliant and the other isn't then they're both getting another ride
