Guitar..

And other cases for concealing bigger guns in your vehicle whole out and about.

I'm certainly not promoting leaving a gun in your vehicle but there are those times when tensions are high where I really wish I had a rifle caliber weapon with me. Now that I have one (my ar pistol) I'd like a way to conceal it when those times do come and was thinking a guitar case.

What are the pros and cons of this? What are other cases you use or think could work?

Guitars can be viewed as a high value item for an opportunistic thief so I don't think that will be a good deterrent.

The best place is out of sight and never put firearms stickers on your vehicle. Even having loose change in a cup holder can be an invitation to a desperate thief so you're best to keep anything of value hidden so a thief doesn't stumble upon a firearm you have stored if they came into your vehicle for something else that was in view.

If you have a pickup truck with a back seat there are a few companies that make safes for under the seat that can store long guns.

Are some variables to consider in vehicles. For example interior color? Black or gray? Use a similar colored case or bag of some sort as camoflage that can be over looked fairly easy especially through tinted windows. Sometimes even a blanket can work sometimes. Using a guitar case or something like that isn't really good if a thief could easily sell or pawn a supposed musical instrument.

Out of sight, out of mind is a usually a good course of action and one of the best ideas. On that note, of being out of mind? Not going there too often. And, visiting privileges don't count. :)

An old picnic cooler or a fishing tackle box maybe? Something old and crappy looking. I just leave an afghan (a hand woven blanket) in the hatchback of my car and put guns and whatnot under it, leaving a rumpled appearance that looks like- a crummy blanket.
Thieves are triggered by what they see, let them see something crappy.

Pretty much all my guitars and basses are worth more than most guns. Leaving it in a guitar case isn't going to keep anyone from stealing it. The only thing I could see is it's a way to conceal it in public. No one is going to bat an eye at a guy walking down the street with a guitar in his hand.

Tennis racket, accordion, harp, or a drain snake if they make a case for it?

A guitar is easier to pawn than a gun. Guitars can be worth way more than any gun. A saddle blanket would be a way better cover, especially if one ever scented a used one.
That would mean you would need a horse trailer to keep the smell out of the cab.
*maybe the answer is a horse trailer? Bring the whole collection.

My '82 Chevy PU......well rusted, cracked W/S, numerous dents and scrapes, never bother to wash it anymore, McDoo's and other containers and trash cover the floorboard, could hide my piece under there......never had anyone bother it, even when I forgot to lock 'er up.
