The article just talks rifles but a semi automatic hand gun also uses the energy from the shot round to extract and load the next. I don’t see them banning anything anyway.

Please tell that to my state of Illinois. We have had the FOID ( firearm owners I D ) card since 1968. Without a FOID card you can't buy a firearm of any kind nor can you purchase ammo .

Right now my state is so far behind in issuing these cards that it is taking on average 100 + days to get a FOID card. The law calls for a maximum time of 30 days to issue a new FOID and 60 days for a renewal. However there is no penalty to the state for going past this timeline.

Add 20 to 30 days to that for most. At least if it is a renewal , the carry license is still valid , even if expired , due to the Covid issues.

Those times are for the regular issue of the FCCL . 90 days with prints and 120 without prints. I got my original carry license from Illinois in early 2014 and it took 108 days . I didn't submit prints because they had to be done digitally and that would have cost about $60.00 more. The 16 hours of training was going for about $200.00 + $150.00 for the license and another $1.50 convenience fee for letting us apply online. Of course online apps was the only way we could apply.
