Interesting discussion on Hornady's newly announced ammunition the 6MM ARC. The discussion starts at the 8:20 mark and continues to 14:50 (they discuss other topics like the protests, USCCA protection, etc.).

Here's a link to Hornady's webpage detailing the 6MM ARC

Good article and link grasshopper.
Thanks, I thought so too. It's interesting how is compares to the 308, 223/556, 224 Valkyrie, 6.5 Grendel and 6.8 SPC. They even talked about the 6 & 6.5 CM. It sounds like this round was introduced as part of the military looking for a replacement of the 556 ammunition. In the Hornady link, it shows all the Gun Manufactures already lined up to produce firearms chambered in this caliber. I'm not a hunter, but they seem to indicated that this round had greater distance, less recoil, more impact energy, weighed less, etc., as they compared it indiviidually, to the rounds mentioned above.

Just call it a 6ppc or 6ssm. Less rounds in the mag or same capacity with extra weight. Make the 6.8 into a 6mm and it will be better. Keep the bullets @ 69 to 95gr and be more optimal for the m4 setup/length. Do the test @ 14.5"barrel length and the you have 2,100 to 2,350fps about depending on bullet weight. The worst testing is given by the manufacturer and mostly over exaggerated.

I’m still liking it, from everything I’m able to find on it. 25rnds, .243 diameter bullet with 103-108 bullet to boot. ~2750fps, ~1800ftlb energy with 18-24 inch barrel.

Most likely the military won't be using those bullets!

I believe the Army has already selected SIG for the new next Generation Squad Weapons and it's 6.8mm hybrid ammunition. Talyn posted a link on this previously. Hornady was one of the companies that competed for the contract with their 6mm ARC. Below is an excerpt from the article linked below, describing the SIG 6.8mm ammunition:

"The SIG Sauer 6.8 mm hybrid ammunition is designed for increased penetration at greater distances. Cohen continued, “Using patent-pending technology the SIG Sauer Ammunition division has engineered a completely new cartridge resulting in a more compact round, with increased velocity and accuracy, while delivering a substantial reduction in the weight of the ammunition.”"
