From my direct experience, excluding esoteric mega-magnums, women can shoot handgun cartridges as large as .45 Auto as well as men.

When my wife decided she wanted to learn how to shoot a handgun (she’s a very good rifle shot—was an instructor at a youth camp), I found someone else to do the teaching...I was able to find a woman to do the instruction, as well, which I highly recommend, if possible.

In a previous lifetime in the military, I attained the title of Master Training Specialist, and taught many, many, many adults over the years, and then yrs later taught high school for 16 yrs,.........however, the hardest, most stressful undertaking I ever did was taking my wife to the range and trying to teach her the basics of shooting a pistol.
