I found interesting is that the concept of the round came before the pistol.
The military loves doing things like that.

Springfield Loaded Lower with a Mil Spec Upper. I just could not warm up to forward cocking serrations, but wanted to have ONE 1911 with an ambi safety in case I ever want to go with a dual gun Galco Shoulder Holster. (hey, I can just about always justify a new 1911 purchase) The other is my favorite 1911 of all time, a Les Baer with a hard chrome lower, just like Ray Chapman and Ross Seyfried had when the Columbia Conference met here in 1976 to form IPSC. (yeah, they had Pachmayr Combat Specials, but this has that "California Look" that made me want one above all other 1911s).
