Hell in the Hedgerows: What U.S. Troops Faced in Normandy

This bit of history hit home for me. A cousin was S-3 1st Battalion, 115th Regiment, 29th Division. He was killed in the hedgerows along with the Battalion surgeon north of Saint Lo. Both by a german sniper, June 18, 1944. He's buried at Normandy. Hope to go there some day.

I recommend Michael Doubler's "Closing With The Enemy" & it's excellent chapter on "Busting the Bocage". It is a well researched, scholarly treatment in the arts of WWII.
