Hellcat Purchase

So today I was searching around for a Springfield Hellcat, came across a LSG by the name of Broken Arrow Outfitters that had a couple in stock. However I decided to look online as well and found that Simmons Sporting Goods had some in stock for nearly $200 less. I asked Broken Arrow would they do a price match since they were the same model but they replied no. So I ended up ordering one from Simmons.

This would be my 3rd Springfield model firearm, as I have the XD-40 3.3, 911 in 9mm. I just want any feedback as to how it performs and any suggestions in ammo. My 911 performed flawlessly out the box as a micro pistol so I'm wondering if the Hellcat will also.

Odds are it's going to be fine out of box. But the possibility of receiving a lemon is always there. Personally, I shot about 500 rounds over 2 months before I was comfortable enough to replace my edc with the hellcat. I probably would've shot it more, if ammo were more affordable.

I carry it with Federal 147gr HST. I'm going to be testing Super Vel 115gr SCHP in it when I find the time.

The training ammo I've put to through it so far are, 115gr Fiochi, 115gr Super Vel FMJ, 124gr Federal FMJ, 115gr Armscor FMJ.

No issues on any level from me at all. I never even got that whole stuck trigger thing the internet was complaining about, and I am not a long time shooter.

You wont regret it. I have a P365 sitting here I rarely carry...

sometimes a store cannot price match, especially if they paid above the normal pricing themselves, to obtain what they have.

i too have asked for other items to be price matched, (not firearms related), sometimes the store will only price match, what thier website sells an item for, not any other store's price.

this has happened so many times for me at the pet store.

My 911 9mm is my edc at the moment, but I plan on switching to the Hellcat if it performs well.

An that's understandable, I just thanked them and went ahead with my online purchase. It wasn't a deal breaker, I get ammo from there so it's not like I'm cutting them off, I just went for a better deal.

My non OSP Hellcat, out of the box fired about 100 rounds of 115 gr Blazer Brass without issue. I did the same with my Sig P365, Glock G43, and tried with several FTF, FTE issues from my Walther CCP M2 9mm (Apparently it doesn't like Blazer Brass ammo much). All about 100 rounds give or take, and all with Blazer Brass (I let some of my buddies try out these micro compacts as well). I really like how fast the Hellcat could reacquire the target using the U-Dot sight.

from the reviews i have seen, that U dot sight is fantastic. i have seen many (well known good) you tube guys give thier opinions on the Hellcat. right now, i still do not have my CCW, but i have already taken at least one class, regarding the laws here in my state. next step is for me to set up an appointment with this gal that helps you go thru all the steps in the process of obtaining that CCW.

she has been in the business for many, many years, and is highly recommended and sought after, by the gun range.

she does it all for her clients, all i have to do, is go to the police station with my completed packet.....and then ....wait

for either the approval or denial.

i have had several major back surgeries. the lawyer at the CCW law class, told me that i'd qualify for a CCW, as my age, and disability to defend myself like a much more physically fit man my age could, is not possible.

i just cannot go to the range until Monday morning of next week. too many things to do like doctor appointments, and the range is jammed packed on the weekends.
I hear you about the Dr. appointments Old_Me, seems like every other week I'm either visiting a Doctor, Dentist or Lab tech. But good luck getting your CCW, I got mine several years ago (Pa. doesn't require a class, but I took one before I would carry, even though I had the permit), and also got a Utah CCW that required a 4 hour course given by a NRA certified instructor (class was given at the local range by the same instructor I took the initial course with). Both permits have been renewed, and between the two CCW's I can carry in most States (States that have constitutional carry also help :sneaky:).

my state does not necessarily require any sort of class. however, as i have been told, the more i can show the police chief that i have been trained, in a classroom and range, goes a much longer way in his eyes, that one is serious about gun safety and proficiency, rather than one who has no training whatsoever.

What state do you live in? I live in Georgia and as long as you pass a background check with no felonies, domestic abuse convictions or drug possession convictions in the last 5 years, you’re good to go. You don’t need any reason whatsoever as to why you need a carry permit. No class requirements either.

up here in hell...New England, RI. we also have to have 3 letters of reference as to our character. finger prints as well. background checks. then the fee is $40...

BUT,,,many police depts charge an "Administrative fee", which can be "up to" $300.........

and you HAVE to go to the police dept where you live.

if you go to the Attorney General's office, denials are going like at about 95% of the times.

Sounds like a PITA. We have to get fingerprints and submit the paperwork to the county courthouse where you live. I believe the charges for the fingerprints, BG check and application total around $75. Permit is good for 5 years. I believe I’m on my 3rd, maybe 4th permit which will expire in 2023.

Good luck!! Hope you get yours soon!

For the Hellcat, congrats! Make sure to field-strip it and lube it before you go. Mine was bone-dry when I got it. I always disassemble to be safe, and I'm glad I did!

Zero problems so far, and I love it.

mine too was bone dry, not even a smidgen of grease in the rails.

in stark contrast, my rock island armory 1911, was so soaking wet in oil, i thought the Exxon Valdez ran into it...
