John Rote is under arrest after he allegedly fired 2 rounds at a man who was reportedly trying to rob a woman on a Manhattan subway platform.

the other guy did not hit, punch, or knock down the woman.

his life was not in danger and neither was the woman's...

now, he very well may get sued by the alleged "blocker of the gate"....?

Good on him for trying to help the woman. No reason to pull a gun evident in the story. Carrying it at all most likely runs afoul of NY law.

He should have intervened verbally, and with his physical presence. The gun should only have been drawn if the gate blocker escalated the situation by producing a weapon and attempted to injure the woman. He was stupid, IMO.
