high quality vitamin D in larger (safety first folks) amounts can be beneficial

Be careful with that one. Vitamin D overdoses are unpleasant, what with the weakness, vomiting, and peeing all the time, among other things. Toxicity can mess with your heart and kidneys. I was on a 5,000iu regimen years back thanks to a bodybuilding/powerlifting coach and it got me, though I stopped once the symptoms started and before it did any damage. It's also fat soluble so it sticks around in your fat cells and can take a while to clear. Definitely do that with a doctor's guidance.

Yep I agree with @benstt, I also have been taking 5000iu with K2 for years with no ill effects. A good friend started taking it and 2 months later was rushed to the hospital with as he put it "my kidneys turned to glass". He was in the hospital for 10 days, it was a big deal. My mother when she was alive was also taking 5000iu daily and every two months was going to get an infusion of 40,000iu. I was very worried about that since she already had stage 3 kidney failure, yet it didn't seem to affect her kidneys either.

Hi,

This one goes under my general health help to fellow Amoryites. Full disclosure, since I do bodybuilding etc I do take quite a few supplements. Do your own due diligence, and as needed, check with your physician as appropriate. https://www.zerohedge.com/medical/high-dose-vitamin-d-may-slow-progression-ms-neurological-disorder

I'm no bodybuilder but I do exercise regularly. I take a multivitamin plus extra B-complex, MSM/Glucosamine, and Vitiman D supplements, but not huge amounts. I think I do OK for someone in his late 60s. I've had significantly fewer colds since starting this regimen. For me, it's all about staying healthy and keeping a good quality of life. My doctor is happy with my regimen.

Thank you for your indulgence,

BassCliff

Shortly after I became disabled , Dr put me on 50,000 units of Vit D once a week. Did that for 4 months and then went to 50,000 units each month. I am still doing this dosage at this time.
