Looking for some info on Hirtenberger 7.62×51 AP leftover from the cold war. Acquired some not to long ago. Haven't shot any yet and most ranges won't let me try any on flat iron. Any good?

Back in the Day (the "golden era of FAL parts builds) Hirtenberger (aka "Hirt")was considered premium "surplus" and performed very well.

I used/stocked up on "Hirt" ball/FMJ and it was good stuff, however, I have no experirnce with the AP version.
Neither do I. I believe these rounds are probably circa 82-86.

Hirtenberger & Radway Green (Brit) were top shelf; about the only stuff better is the occasional batches of Swedish 7.62 that would pop up every now & then.

I’ve run a lot of Portuguese surplus lately; I bought a ton when it was running about $75-80/200rd battlepack.

Never cared for the South African surplus…the asphalt sealant they used made for hard cleaning.

Also, German MEN.
