Yeah, kind of bulky to carry to say the least. But at night, when dug in and not carrying it, it sounds like it did the job of stopping (or at least reducing), the attempts of the Japanese to infiltrate our lines, which I understand the Japanese were very good at, and did often during the war in the pacific.

I guess it was better than nothing and was all the latest in tech.
We have come a long way. My thermals are 1lb each and see 800-1000 yards
