Hog Wild: A Hunters View of America’s Feral Swine Invasion

I am a contractor and eradicate Feral Hogs & Coyotes off of City, County, State, Federal & Private Properties. I have eradicated Feral Hogs and Coyotes from Golf Courses and Airports, Farmlands, Housing developments. On one of my contracts, I killed 187 Feral hogs & 28 coyotes. I worked hand in hand with the State DNR Fish & Wildlife and obtained the necessary depredation permits to hunt at night with night vision and spotlights and traps during Deer and Turkey Season. In most states on private property, you are only required to have a Small Game Licence as a big game licence is not required here Feral Hogs have no season or limits same with Coyotes. From time to time the DNR Fish & Wildlife officer will check you out to make sure you did not take any game other that Hogs & Coyotes. This is a photo show of some of the Hogs taken during a County Contract. I killed these hogs with a .22LR 10-22 , AR-15 .223 / 5.56, 6.5 Grendel, .224 Valk, AR-10 7.62 /.308, 9mm carbine, 9mm pistol, crossbow, .280 Remington , 12 Gauge Shotgun .

It is probably be the only animal I would like to hunt and donate the meat to a food kitchen.
I donated over 2,000 pounds of processed pork meat to the needy .a church pastor paid $30 a hog to a processor.I just did the field dressing the gut pile was bait for coyotes .and the church controlled its food bank many had a ham for Thanksgiving and Christmas.

We have quite a few feral hogs in our area. A friend of mine said he shot several while deer hunting, but did not try to keep the meat. He was afraid of anthrax. It sounds like if you go prepared, it is safe to keep and process the meat.

Trichinosis, also known as trichinellosis & Brucellosis in pigs, not anthrax if you keep your hands covered and touch the bloody meat with rubber gloves on and cook it well done you will have no problems. even deer have been found with it .
