HOME DEFENSE ZERO

I use the Mossberg Shock wave loaded with # BB 3" mag steel shot goose load then the rest is # 1 buck. I pity the poor fool!

Sight offset is something a lot of people forget about.

My primary HD “long arm” is zeroed at 25yds...at 10 feet, I’m about 3/4” low.
That’s true and a good point. Taking a center mass hit, shouldn’t matter. I do the same as you zero at 25yds. I do the same with my .22 pistol and I also carry that pistol down around the lake, for snakes and my youngins. That 3/4” will make a difference on a snake head at 5yrds, so you bring up a valid point.

It’s one of the reasons I chose not to mount a MRDS on my Z5. It raised the offset up by enough that I wasn’t confident of making a precision shot at close range should circumstance require it.

I just dropped in a tritium front blade and rear dots, and the 0-50 rear peep works great...3/4” off at 10,, hold on the eyebrow, put it through the eyeball.

My carry guns are currently sighted in at 12 yards. My KSG25 at 20 yards, my 18.5" Mossberg which is my main home defense weapon is without optics, just a single front bead. 1911s and the Q5 are sighted in at 25 yards.
