How accurate is the Saint?

I'm not much of an AR guy. I have two just because they're evil and so many people don't want me to have them.
I have a Colt A2 Sporter and a S&W M&P-15. Both are good rifles, but are only Combat accurate. Roughly 2.5" at 100 yards. But I'm old fashioned and really like accurate rifles. I'd like to have one that will shoot under 1" at 100 yards with standard Mil-surp ammo.
As i said, I'm not much of an AR guy so I just can't see spending a small fortune on a top tier gun.
I am a fan of Springfield Armory and own quite a few of their products. Thus my question. Just how accurate are the Saint AR rifles? Will these fulfil my desires?

No. I don’t even think DD or BCM will do sub MOA with M193. Wilson Combat will. A Wilson Combat complete upper will cost about as much as a Saint Rifle. Maybe a tad more. I’m sure there are others.

I doubt there are any (and if so, not many) rifles that will shoot 1” at 100 with milsurp ammo. Match ammo? Yeah sure. Milsurp? Don’t think so, quality is just not there (mass produced). I’ve loaded some darn accurate ammo , but it was created by hand measuring powder down to the .1 grain and weighing/sorting bullets to get as much consistency possible. No milsurp from any source (unless it is military MATCH ammo is going to be close to that level of consistency

Probably as accurate as you will need. It's not gonna be sub-moa out of the box. Few AR's are, and none in the price range of any of the SAINT lines would be, but that doesn't mean it's not accurate.

If you want sub-moa out of an AR platform with milsurp ammo your options are limited and your price range will need to be in the $2.5k to $5k area. And even then, I don't think you will get that group with milsurp ammo.

Get a decent AR in the $1300-$2000-ish price range and buy match grade ammo and you will be able to achieve what you are looking for.

Or hand select your parts and build your own custom AR. That's the only way I can see this happening. And it's gonna cost you more than a base model Saint would.

From ready-made manufacturers... H&K MR5.56, AR's from Larue Tactical, I haven't shot match ammo out of my MCX Spear LT yet, but I bet it could push sub-moa at 100 yards, or damn close to it. LWRC, Daniel Defense maybe? It's all Geissele **** anyways besides the furniture, and they make good barrels.

Geissele and Wilson Combat probably can get you there, but again you need to be shooting much better quality ammo to see stable results. Noveske maybe? But they are overpriced as hell. Christensen Arms. LMT and KAC? Both are crazy expensive.

That's all I can think of off the top of my head.

Springfield did make that absolute dumpster fire of an AR (From a sales and marketing perspective) called the Saint Edge ATC, and they sold so poorly that alot of vendors were dumping them at rock bottom prices, right along the lines of a base model Saint. They claimed it to be a 1 moa gun. If any of those are still floating around online, you could probably get it dirt cheap. (These are discontinued) I've not shot one, but I remember someone on this forum posting a bunch of pics of one and claiming it was awesome. I think it was XDMan.

They have a sort of similar version with a .223 Wylde barrel now. Not sure what the accuracy claim is though.

Wilson guarantees 1/2" using some specific 77gr match grade ammo with Nosler bullets.
Not consistently ( but could just as easily be user error) I have shot 1" groups with green tips. I know that's not the same as saying consistent sub MOA groups with milsurp ammo, but it's easily the most accurate AR I own.
