How Did TSA Not Catch This

As someone who travels quite a bit, and has had a knife and other items (lotions, mouthwash, alcohol, and a lighter) confiscated at the TSA checkpoint, I’m loathe to think what would happen should I “forget” and pack a pistol.

At the same time, I have carried computer components that I had to explain to the agent what they were. Reading this article, I can’t help but wonder what else gets by them.

It just kills me to hear these "I simply forgot I had a gun in my luggage", WTF are these people so careless with this stuff while they can't be without their phone for 2 minutes without panicking!

When I traveled by air for work, I always got a rise out of TSA with this item.

The explanation of its function isn't much easier on the TSA than seeing this on X-Ray :ROFLMAO:

hey...that's in the latest Adam & Eve catalog...........

My buddy is an EOD tech / team lead. They spend a lot of their time testing / penetrating airport security for 'training' and what not. He says that more than 50% of the time they can get whatever it is they are testing through security. Then they have to do the write-ups and training etc etc, that checks out with my theory that airport security is mostly for show to keep the public calm.

On a side note, not long ago I was coming back from a place on a long flight, I got up to go to the bathroom, came back and sat down, looked around and over to my left one row up was a gun laying under a seat. I reached up and tapped the shoulder of the guy sleeping on the aisle seat that was over the gun, he looked around startled and I caught his eye and pointed under his seat... he looked down, put his pillow over it and grabbed it and flashed me his Air Marshal badge with a silent Thank You... what a maroon

Years ago while still active LEO, my wife and I traveled to the HI islands for vacation. I packed my off duty pistol in my luggage after declaring it with the airlines. It was to go into the hold. We were leaving one of the small islands (can't remember which) and I happened to be standing next to a (state?) customs agent scanning luggage prior to departure.

My bag was next to be x-rayed and I commented not to get excited if he sees what was in the bag. Sure enough the machine showed a 2" Model 60 and ammunition. I looked at his reaction as he turned to me. His response was "I don't care about guns and ammunition, I only care about pineapples."

Toothpaste and mouthwash warrant a strip search these days, times have changed...

Side bar: remember long ago when you could smoke and carry liquids ??

Work incentive trip to Vegas.
12 people
Female Co workers stowed a half gallon of Vodka and another a half gallon of rum in their large “purse” bag.
We all order tonic or Coke on the flight. Opened the booze and let’er rip.

Whole plane joined us when they saw what we had. We passed the bottles.
Flight attendants got pissed. We offered them $100 each to let us drink. They obliged .
Whole plane deplaned in Vegas in a party mood.🕺🕺🕺

Those days are long, long gone !!

this is actually quite funny and ironic at the same time.

i have mentioned in the past, that i have a family member that works at the airport here in RI.

ok...her job..??

airplane cleaner......4 planes each night, with the rest of her crew.

guess what though..??

BEFORE any of them start to clean the planes...???

EACH plane MUST BE SWEPT (eyes, hands) for contraband, that THE TSA PLANTS in the planes, to MAKE SURE THE cleaners find them..!!!

i swear to God and all that's Holy, i CAN NOT MAKE THIS UP.....

she has told me the items that they found....boxes.....cell phones, backpacks, small carry on luggage under the seats, but no weapons...as of yet.

what's to say, something "explosive" isn't in any of those items..????

so here, TSA isn't doing THIER JOBS, but they EXPECT the others.......to do thier jobs..?????
