How Effective Is 9x18 Makarov?

Interesting video on the effectiveness of the 9x18 Makarov cartridge. I've seen the Makarov firearm for sale at Classic Firearms (I don't own one), but found it interesting to learn that the Glock G43 has a conversion kit to fire the 9x18 cartridge. I have a G43 (but no conversion kit), and it could/would be an alternative during this ammunition shortage, especially good for range practice.

It’s a slightly warm .380.

As I recall, XTP’s perform pretty well out of it.

For a while, you could get the hotter Stechkin loads from Wolf...it was a 104gr Conical Point FMJ (instead of the ubiquitous, very round nose FMJ); they definitely had some snort behind them.

Thanks Hans, good info. Yes, the video also talked about this cartridge and the .380. Very interesting stuff.

I'm not too familiar with the Makarov's, though I did consider grabbing one when the ammo shortage started hitting my area hard. It's kind of a moot point now because pretty much all pistol ammo is getting very difficult to find in my neighborhood. Brandon Hererra (The AK Guy) carries a Makarov as his EDC and has done a few segments on the gun for his Youtube channel. It looks like it could be a pretty fun range piece.

And according to this video, Brandon's Makarov is a double stack compared to the Classic Firearm's single stack they were selling (out of stock at the moment).
