We had to wait (called a cooling off period) when my dad bought my shotgun in 1972. Life has never been easy in Illinois. USED to live there.I thought Illinois was bad. Have to have a FOID card (background check before even getting a firearm), to go get a pistol it’s present the card and do another background check through the state police ( hopefully their system is working properly), wait 72 hours (I’ve had my background check go past 72), then it’s making sure nothing has changed investigation of 72 hours, and then I walk out the door.
