They all have made me get out of the car, took my gun, and ran the serial number. This is usually with bystanders and passerbys watching. They would then hand the gun back at the end of the traffic stop on slide lock with an unloaded magazine and a handful of loose bullets. I'd be told not to load anything until they leave or I leave, whichever came first. This has happened about 4 times over the last decade.
