I open carried my 1911 today

And nothing happened! šŸ˜² I went around my business and nobody was shot! Nobody harassed me! How do we normalize guns back into our society again?
Answer involves a Left Leaning society.
All Iā€™m going to say about that

Proā€™s and conā€™s to open carry.

We have debated that horse to the bottom of the ocean with a cinder block around its neck

The last time I opened carried I was on a wildlife rescue call, when I was done I stopped to get gas and forgetting completely that my gun was not covered went into the store for a soda, the looks I got were incredible and one lady standing in line just had so say something.
I apologized to the clerk and she said no worries your in here all the time I know you. When I was pumping gas a cop showed up, at first I thought someone called but he got gas also and we talked guns and wildlife rescue. He was really cool about me open carrying and it helped me feel better about not having it covered. I still donā€™t do it very often.

Nor I but if I'm going places that I'm pretty sure are not problematic I open carry. Time of day matters too

I have open carried a few times usually when I go walking on our walking trail where I live, yea, I got looks but it didnā€™t bother me, with the way it is today, I rather be looked at and talked about then not to have my gun ready for anything may happen, yea I could have carried concealed, but out there I felt if you saw me carrying it may deter any conflict that may come up.

And when I open carry on a rescue call my conflict would be with a predator intent on killing what Iā€™m trying to rescue or myself and need my weapon to be instantly accessible, I donā€™t want to be fumbling with heavy clothing.

With the first snow of the season here yesterday, I broke out my OWB holster for the Hellcat, which makes for easier access under my winter jacket although it's not exactly open carry. I usually open carry for trainings, the range, out in the woods, and sometimes under an oversized tee shirt in warmer weather depending on the agenda that day. Again, not truly open carry. I have a friend who open carries at all times and she is constantly harassed by people as well as, at times, police although open carry without a permit is permissible in this state. She would easily qualify for a permit due to her job and says, " I will, someday". Her experiences are the reason I limit my open carry as I prefer not to be noticed or questioned.

On occasion I have open carried for various reasons. Usually with no repercussions. Had a duty officer approach me for conversation and ID which I provided. He wrote my name in his little notebook and noted that if he gets a call on me he knows he can ignore it unless it accompanies a shots fired call. I retired from a State Job after 15 years and worked with Law Enforcement on a daily basis. Contrary to popular belief, at least in my state, Law Enforcement has no problem with firearms as long as they aren't pointed at them.

A couple of times I have observed others carrying openly in my area, and no one bothered them. If hysterical ninnies were the only concern, I would too. But I don't feel it's secure, so I prefer to be discreet.
By open carrying you but a bullseye on your back, Iā€™d rather be the guy that has a surprise for the bad guy.
Iā€™ve open carried a few times and will admit Iā€™m probably more nervous then those around me.
