Same for NHThe kids still stand for the POA each morning here in SW Oklahoma.
Baloney. "Separation of Church and State" only means to imply that there is to be no "national church" (e.g., the Church of England, the Church of Germany (which is Lutheran), etc.A bit of trivia. The original Pledge of Allegiance, written by Francis Bellamy, did not contain the words “under God” because he believed in absolute separation of church and state. The words “under God” were added in 1954 as a direct response to Communism.

Same here in Virginia, or at least the county I worked in. Northern Va might be different, especially now.The kids still stand for the POA each morning here in SW Oklahoma.

"God" does not imply any particular religion. Not baloney.
“Under God” was not in the original POA for that reason—Bellamy believed that no religion should be referenced in it.
And it was only added for the ridiculously cynical reason of “communists won’t say it, so we’ll know who they are” in the ‘50’s.
But it implies “a” religion…which kinda leaves the non-religious having to say something they don’t believe."God" does not imply any particular religion.
Does removing that slogan make US currency any less valuable? In 1864, Congress passed the Coinage Act so that adaptations could be made to U.S. currency, and on April 22, "IN GOD WE TRUST" was first printed on the two-cent coin. Been that way ever since. I know that change is the only constant in the universe, but I shudder to think what a POA rewrite would look like if the cancel culture had its way. The flag part would probably be gone, any mention of a Republic would be offensive, one nation, indivisible would be a thing of the past, and the last part would most likely become with government guidance and justice for almost everybody. Sad isn't it. Hope I don't live to see it.
It was a poem. No music when he wrote it.Music to The Star Spangled Banner was from a British drinking song or so it goes. When FSK wrote it I don't know if that was in his mind?
The red hand of Ulster."I pledge allegiance to my Flag and the Republic for which it stands, one nation, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all."
