I'm very dubious of any report of a gun falling and going off. Gun makers do extensive drop testing just to prevent that sort of thing. I'd also like to know what kind of rifle. Had it been modified in any way? Did something get into the trigger guard? Lots of questions here and they need to be answered.

Stored chambered, safety off, and with other items in the bag to slip in trigger guard press trigger when it hits, could simply be a freak accident , easily avoided.

I am sure there will be a detailed investigation and labratory testing of the gun.
