If you feel like getting angry....

Bassbob

Emissary
I've seen many examples of cops and federal agents not only thinking they're above the law, but believing they can kill innocent people and ruin their lives with no consequences. And often they can.

I read part 1 and part 2 of this story last night and it really pissed me off. Not only cops, but feds and prosecutors and judges all falsifying evidence and covering for people who falsified evidence. This woman is lucky that she could afford or at least had options to come up with the funds to hire a team of lawyers. If it were some regular schmo they'd already be doing life and the crooked cops and feds would all be secure in their knowledge that they can do whatever the hell they want with no consequences.

And people wonder why no one trusts the police and the federal LE agencies.

nailed with a paywall the second I clicked on it - whats the q&d here?

I assure you I would never subscribe to Vanity Fair and I accessed it without a paywall.

I discovered the story because I was perusing the "News" app on my iPhone, but I Googled " Karen Read Vanity Fair" to get the article and a hot link on my computer.

At any rate I noticed there are a lot of news stories about this case on the net. Just Google Karen Read.

gotcha - found it and read the story. Well we are all shocked to find out there may be crooked kopz, judgez etc. One more reason to have the resources, as you pointed out, to hire good attorneys.

Tried reading the story, lost interest and gave up. I have no faith in Boston police, less in Mass. S.P., less still in Mass legal system, and absolutely zero in the FBI Boston office. On the other hand, I wouldn't trust Vanity Fair to give me the correct time of day. Maybe that's why I have a low attention span for this story, no faith that we will ever know the truth.
Oh by the way, I'm more surprised when I'm not angry. ;)

VF isn't the only outlet with the story.

Wasn’t there, don’t know the “truth”, but wasn’t very smart for her to spontaneously exclaim “Did I hit him?” And while I’m sure there’s every possibility crooked cops, lawyers, judges, etc. could be involved, a conspiracy between all seems a bit of a stretch. I’ll never know what really happened, but experience from a different life tells me the “truth” will lie somewhere in the middle, to varying degrees toward one side or the other.

Also wonder why, if when she called they told her they didn’t know where he was, she drove back to the house, leading to the spontaneous exclamation.

Really, no one will ever know what truly happened now that expensive lawyers are involved. Well, short of the person responsible making a confession that can actually be corroborated.

Phone records proving a guy who said he wasn’t at the house actually was , doctored video of the SUV in police custody, Google searches, many provable lies told by the cops and the FBI. We know what happened.

LE corroborating each others lies to protect them seems like a conspiracy theory to you ? Naive. I guess it’s true all you have to do to hide the truth is call it a conspiracy theory.
There are endless examples. I won’t go into too much detail but state troopers in conjunction with municipal cops and city cops committed several crimes, including very likely murder, in order to convict a family member of mine with no physical evidence to support the charge. All because one state trooper lost some face. That’s no conspiracy theory. I personally know for a fact they manufactured evidence and a lawyer, who used to be a judge, committed ethical violations insuring the conviction after he was hired because the first lawyer was magically shot to death by some city cops for some alleged bullshite.

Short of sitting on the jury and being exposed to all evidence, I’ll stick by my comment “ Really, no one will ever know what truly happened now that expensive lawyers are involved. Well, short of the person responsible making a confession that can actually be corroborated.”

I don’t take journalistic accounts of anything as evidence.

yeah, the mrs and i believe she is being railroaded.

we believe the cop got into a fight in the house, and died.

she did not do this.

she recently sold her house too.

i did not have to read the story, i got regular updates each and every day, since i live in New England.

It's not just a Legal System, it's an industry.

Lawyers write laws, creating the need for lawyers to prosecute to defend the new law-breakers.

Requiring a political arrangement of competing and conflicting governmental enforcement agencies on the other side.

Not what our forefathers had in mind.

Sorry buggy. Tried again and just can't get outraged. Know/maybe I should but one more straw of B.S. with everything else doesn't feel like it's added anymore weight on this camel's back. That I fine more concerning.
It's just another example of citizens being at the mercy of the government. Anyone who thinks the cops and the FBI can't do whatever they want to whoever they want at any time is in a mental institution.
