There are lots of potential ways to resolve the capacity issue of smaller guns, but one solution is to replace the standard capacity magazine that comes with your small pistol with an extended factory magazine.

problem lies in states with mag capacities. in that situation, more mags (of the state limits) would be needed....

then some may go a bit too far, and start taking along either an ammo shoulder belt, like this but made for magazines..

a bandolier?

I have been seeing extended magazines in LEO holsters a lot recently. A sign of the times. These guys must be paranoid. And here I am old fashioned with my 8 round magazines in my 1911's and P220. And two spares in my pouch. And 12 more loaded spares in the magazine storage pouch in the truck. And a full ammo can in the drawer unit in the truck. Right next to the can of 5.56. And......

In some compacts like the Shields extended mags with matching baseplates actually make the gun usable. Flush mags on Shields make the grip too short. I immediately bought at least 5 extended mags for each gun and gave the flush mount mags away.
When I bought my shield I basically did the same thing.

I never thought of The Shield magazines is extended though because the way they built them they mated right to the grip.

Similarly, I have Factory 12 round magazines on my Glock 26.

They give just enough extension to get a full firing grip on the gun and they really don't affect its concealability at all.

I bought that gun when I was working nights. I carried it as a pocket gun (which I wasn't supposed to do). My uniform pants were black BDUs and it fit in the pocket in a pocket holster just fine.

I carry a Glock 22 on duty with 3 15 round magazines. Glock 48 on my ankle and my Saint Ar with 2 mags in weapon held together with a mag coupler and in the war bag have another 2 loaded Glock mags and 6 additional loaded Magpuls for the Saint.... Off duty Hell Kitten with 15 round mag in and 1 additional 15 round mag in spare pocket....

When we still carried revolvers, I always carried 4 speedloaders on my belt, a few more in the briefcase, a bandolier of 00 for the 870 and a spare box in the briefcase. As I have always said, one can only have too much ammo, if swimming, or if on fire.
