A touching story. Believe me, it’s all hyperbole, not a public safety concern. But it does show how some shifty operators can and will circumvent the system of laws and still weasel out of any accountability. Having the media to act as a liaison to create and exploit a DYI gun issue to highlight a pitiful and recently enacted ghost gun law.

So the Bureau gets a hot tip on a local street arrest (back in May) and squeeze the roach to divulge who and where he bought the ghostie he was packing. Keep in mind now, they’re not after the criminal possessor or in a case against the illegal seller/supplier. It’s about the Parts people making legal parts for law abiding people. Much easier to find and prosecute them for media and political value.

– “The (office) said ghost guns are increasingly recovered by law enforcement at crime scenes across the country. …the informant told police that Clark could build another handgun, and requested pre-payment to buy the needed materials.” –

The reality: Options, if the illegal supplying seller has any pot to **** in, he could see an expensive, lengthy trial and legal expense or public defender, some trivial defamation - if it bothers him any and maybe the bulk or threat of any jail time (all rightfully so) than the original feral roach arrestee he sold his wares to, who knowingly and unlawfully sought, unlawfully purchased, unlawfully possessed and/or lawfully used the ghostie in a crime. Option 2 is the illegal supplier seller could squeal.

I can think of a couple of defenses for the illegal suppling seller, entrapment and the other will be ignorance to the law, so this case has nothing but political kabuki theatrics attached to it. The deal will be offered to plea down. I see the same troubles in store for the Manufacturer of the lower, only deep pockets mean stricter penalties and no deals.

So don’t hold your breathe for them tell you the rest of the story, like what and how the rest of the inventory was confiscated or how many of the others “that got away” during the Bureaus 3 month surveillance and subsequent warrant. Could it be these fast’ n furious ghosties are still out there showing up at (violent) crimes scenes?

The selling supplier is yet to squeal out a deal and provide testimony against the gun parts companies, mind you he was only in court on arraignment...and for the confidential informant… gone with the wind and handsomely rewarded.

You have to wait for the sequel...spoiler: it won’t be about Clark‘s cottage industry.

The Boston story (and certainly not the only one) this guy shot himself, and went to the hospital. His story wasnt cutting it. (his dad shot him when he was cleaning the gun in his car.) They pulled a warrent searched his house and found 5 or so. Had a few high capacity mags. Bottom line here he was selling them. No license to carry and over ten round mags are illigal here. People like this just add fuel to their fire.

While I completely disagree with the new "Ghost gun" law/rule, anyone who thinks it's ok to manufacture guns with no serial numbers and then sell them privately for profit without obeying regular federal laws or possessing a FFL is an idiot or just a criminal. Apparently both.

Hmmm. Ghost gun law? It isn't a law. It is a change in policy that was made by the ATF. They arbitrarily decided, after years of saying it was legal, to now say that the 80% lowers now are a firearm. That does not make it law. Only elected officials can pass law and the ATF is not elected.

More "Ghost" guns being found in the commission of a crime? Did you know that they now consider firearms that have had the Serial Number removed or filed down, are considered Ghost guns under this administration? That is where a large percentage of the "Ghost" guns are from.

As for making the guns for sale, I don't disagree with the concept, but you do put yourself at risk. While the laws may be unconstitutional, they are on the books and I, for one, would not want to have to spend months or years in jail waiting for the case to get to the SCOTUS to be vindicated.

The NFA may be unconstitutional, but until it is either overturned or until a case finally makes it to SCOTUS, we do have to live with it.

The last case to make it to SCOTUS was in 1939, but the claimant was killed before the case could be heard. There is a new case that is making its way to SCOTUS. It is being presented by the GOA and is a case about a man who was convicted of manufacturing and owning suppressors without the tax stamp. He was found guilty and given probation. As a result of the sentencing, he is able go forward with the case. It will be most interesting to see what the results will be.

I’m not a lawyer, but I’m pretty sure the “ignorant to the law” defense is also known as the “Go past Go, do not pick up $200, go straight to jail” defense.

Re: Entrapment (see above).
if it were local IN court one can expect full, swift and meaningful prosecution. This is a Fed court case. Plenty there to use for the moment and check off with a Ghost Gun Law “case closed - we made our points for The Big Guy”.
The Fed operates on a different standard and basically wait by the phone in the Ghost Gun Division for any local LE to notify them...as required.
Ghost Gun Seller …“Pass Go, Collect gov $$$ and Laugh as he passes the Ghost Gun Jailhouse” as sarcastic or callous it seems, its how the gubmint works when the crime doesn’t fit the accused. This case does not pass the red baseball cap narrative they were looking for.
They couldn’t kick it back to the local yokel jurisdiction but they did ask for more cowbell next time.
I will follow this case and report back…

I said law/rule because who really knows WTF it is ? It is whatever they say it is because no one seems to be able to do anything to stop them.
Yessir BassBob! They will do whatever they want ! Ya’ gotta get arrested and goods confiscated to know whats in it. The scope of the investigation is as broad as the ambiguity when it comes to ever-evolving definitions.

For what it’s worth… technically it’s a revised ‘rules and regulation‘ amendment to the existing Gun Control Act of 1968 and the National Firearms Act of 1934. It actually goes in effect today 8/24.

“The regulation does not prohibit privately made firearms from parts for self-defense or other lawful purposes, provided an individual is not prohibited from possessing or receiving firearms, engaged in the business of dealing or manufacturing firearms without a license, or engaged in any other unlawful activity.”

Ghost Gun Law was the Dems buzz word.
Ghost Gun Law here, is being used sarcastically.
Ghost Gun Laws if it can save one Ghost life, it’s worth it.
