Extractors that is...

The question of internal vs External extractors comes up from time to time, and it mainly centers around which is best or more reliable. Since all modern auto pistol producers have pretty much gone to the external type, we’ll have to use Johnny Browning’s pistols to represent those with the internal type.

Doesn't really matter as long as it works.
But for you 1911 fans, never close the slide on a chambered round. The gun is designed for the round to slide up under the extractor from underneath while feeding. Dropping the slide on a chambered round forces the extractor to flex and ride over the cartridge rim. This can lead to a bent extractor and failure to function.
External extractors are spring loaded to pivot out of the way and are much more forgiving of this.
