Agreed.
I have a Viridian Reactor5 ECR (instant-on) green laser on my XDs. I draw, a magnet in the holster lights the laser automatically.
Range time? I practice with no laser for the first 80% of my rounds. Sight picture, proper stance, all that. Towards the end, I push my speed. Make myself get sloppy, as if under duress. More point-shooting. Then, the last 4 or 5 mags, I use the laser and strictly point-shoot with it. I start with co-witnessing...but quickly move to unusual-position firing. Hip shooting. Chest-shooting. Reaching around an imaginary obstacle, when there's no way I could get a sight picture.
I can run a mag twice as fast with the laser, and have a perfectly acceptable grouping on-target.
In a pinch...I'll stack the deck in my favor as much as possible.
