Interchangeable Calibers: What You Need to Know

Good info...but a day (two actually) late for my dumb ass.

I wasn't thinking when I went to the gun show last weekend. I knew I needed stuff for my new Hellcat so I was in "9mm" mode. I grabbed a light/laser combo for it, and I also picked up a rail for my Mossberg 12ga so I can mount a tac light on it for home use.

I completely forgot about my Savage .308 bolt action. I could have gotten larger mags for it...and, had I paid attention, I could have scored a TON of ammo for it since 7.62 was EVERYWHERE. But...I didn't pay attention to the fact that they're the same round.

Duh.

I don't shoot it much anyway...probably why it wasn't in the active part of my brain.
 
IIRC .308 is loaded to higher pressure than 7.62 and chamber dimensions are a little different as in headspace or bullet jump. I've shot both in my savage tactical .308. did you find a larger mag for a tactical or another Savage .308?
It's the direct opposite in the .223/5.56 where the 5.56 is much higher chamber pressure.
 
No mag...that was the point of my post. Didn't even cross my mind till I got home and was putting my EDC back in the safe, saw the Savage, and thought "DOH!".

Oh well.
