Dunno, good question.Always knew USCCA was a complete sham, but I wonder what they think about US/Texas Law Shield.
they probably are...however, many of us cannot afford the over $100,000 legal defense....so at the very least, "some sort" of insurance is better than none.I think they're probably all scams. Like most insurance.
Several flaws in that logic, but we've been over all that here a million times already so.....they probably are...however, many of us cannot afford the over $100,000 legal defense....so at the very least, "some sort" of insurance is better than none.
that's not available in my state.Dunno, good question.
I have US Law Shield, myself.
You’re no doubt right to one degree or another, Bob. Wondered about it myself when I signed up….I think they're probably all scams. Like most insurance.
I look at it like this. For starters I have my own lawyer on retainer and he is a right bastard, so I'm good there. Second, I live in a state that doesn't prosecute people in justified self defense cases and is one of the most gun friendly states in the nation. For people who live in the commie states I say move. If moving is impossible, I guess maybe jumping through a bunch of hoops, registering and agreeing to monitoring by the government and throwing a bunch of money for specialized liability insurance that may or may not pay out if you ever have to defend yourself or your loved ones with a firearm might be an option. You’re no doubt right to one degree or another, Bob. Got mine at my CC class, where a rep pitched it to us and discussed the “difference” between theirs and their competitors. He specifically called out others as being insurance and listed a number of generic exclusions.
I’d been thinking about it but hadn’t done much research. But at the class, he offered 6mo free and locked-in price for as long as you continue renewal (no break). Gave his card and the offer was available for 30 days.
I will say though, at the end of every video on Self Defense Insurance, he/they promote their own "attorney on retainer" program. So he's never going to have anything nice to say about any of the "insurance" companies.I moved away from USCCA, for things just like the OP posted. Changed to Second Call Defense.
Amen….I look at it like this. For starters I have my own lawyer on retainer and he is a right bastard, so I'm good there. N. Carolina eh? That's a true story.Amen….
My state used to be a LOT like Missouri. In maybe 60% of the state, it very much still is. But it’s changing- has been since early 90s.
Just a tidbit : when i was out there for a few yrs, i wasn’t far from Rolla. Found out Rolla area was supposedly** settled by a wagon train of folks (circa 1850?) from my state and the name Rolla is/was a constriction or regional mispronunciation of one of our major cities. (It’s slowly dying out but we still have that strong accent in rural areas down East).
You probably know where or can figure it out
** I’m going off memory; it’s been 10 yrs. And I dunno how much research went into the tale. Apologies if I’ve mentioned it all before - loved it out there.
i just checked out this company...i will look deeper, but i like what i have read up on, so far.I moved away from USCCA, for things just like the OP posted. Changed to Second Call Defense.
I to use US/Texas Law Shield. I did a fair amount of research and so far I'm pretty satisfied. God willing and the creek don't rise I'll never have to find out.Always knew USCCA was a complete sham, but I wonder what they think about US/Texas Law Shield.
it's like any other insurance..we need it, for a disaster..and hope and pray we never need it, then find out, you had like 42 seconds to call and file a claim, and you had to do that between the hours of 3:32 AM, and 3:32 AM on friday the 13th....I to use US/Texas Law Shield. I did a fair amount of research and so far I'm pretty satisfied. God willing and the creek don't rise I'll never have to find out.
I've listened to a podcast where the owner of SCD was interviewed, long format. His info was compelling.i just checked out this company...i will look deeper, but i like what i have read up on, so far.
i personally have no stats to go by, but i have to wonder on any given month, how many "legal" gun owners are calling any insurance company for a shooting, which was done in "self defense", either in the home, on the property, or "on the streets"..I've listened to a podcast where the owner of SCD was interviewed, long format. His info was compelling.
The biggest problem people have is the criminal defense payments are by a "separate" foundation, run by the owner. The paperwork says "could" and "may" on receiving these payments. After listening to the owner, I'm convinced this is required legal speak and they are committed to protecting their members. At the very least, he was emphatic on this point and would be easy to sue based on that. Which he knows.
