Is Springfield Even Making the TRP Anymore?

Hammer67

Professional
I love my classic, non-railed TRP, and I'm glad I grabbed it when I did. But for at least the last year, I haven't seen a single one for sale anywhere, and I've definitely been looking. Seems like finding one of these days is like winning the lottery. I know they're still listed in the current lineup, but is Springfield actually making any?

...and because pics are always good:

yes
i imagine they are not carried in most shops due to popularity of other models

my local guy can order one...

You can find them online but it’s few and far between. I actually
Don’t see Springfield anything much in my local gun stores (not sure why). I Still see a few of their 1911’s but it’s mainly the garrison or emissary. My local sportsmans actually had the operator in, which is the first time I have seen one of those at any of the local gun stores. Granted I am not exactly a frequent flier since, my local gun stores seems to like to Jack up the prices on guns and ammo.

Yeah, I suppose I could see if the local dealer could order one. But I wasn't just referring to physical stores, I have alerts set up with some of the bigger online retailers as well, and nothing. I'd be curious what the actual annual production #s are on this model.

I believe the SA TRP is discontinued (see link below), except for the California Compliment models. While talking with the SA rep during the Prodigy launch, he mentioned that SA doesn't dare take anything already approved on the CA list off (they may not get any other firearms approved). He did mention that it can be ordered, but due to its availability in CA models only, the production runs may be limited.

Good info - thanks!

The only difference between a CA compliant TRP and a standard is the CA has a low mass (titanium) firing pin.

SA doesn’t continuously make all of their 1911 models; they do runs of one model, then go to the next, etc.

That’s why all of a sudden you’ll see them everywhere for a while, and then they dry up.

So—either get thee to Gunbroker (there’s a few on there) or wait until they make a new batch.

Yeah, I'm fully aware of that, esp. with their higher-end 1911s. I don't expect they are cranking out lots of TRPs throughout the year. But I literally haven't seen a new one for sale anywhere in more than a year (and closer to two years), and I assumed they at least make a batch or two every year.

I won't have anything to do with Gunbroker. But no worries, like I said, I have one. Just might want to pick up another at some point.
