Is the .327 Federal Magnum the Ultimate Pandemic Cartridge?

Ok, honestly—when’s the last time anyone saw .32 S&W (short)? I’ve seen it on shelves maybe twice? Even then—ludicrously
expensive, considering. And it's not like .32S&W long or .32 H&R are much more common...

A .357 Mag can also run .38 Special and .38 S&W...one of which is a common staple on all gun store shelves.

Having a rifle and revolver that share the same ammunition is never a bad idea.

The thing that got me interested in .327 mag was that revolvers chambered in .327 mag usually hold 1 additional round compared to .357/38 Special guns with the same size frame and cylinder. What kept me from making a purchase was the initial purchase cost for the guns, along with the high cost and low availability of the ammo. If the ammo becomes more widely-produced I may reconsider.

Ultimate? No, I don't think so. Sure it gives a lot of options to use and scrounge. But honestly you can find .38 or 357 magnum in even the smallest town gas station that happens to sell ammunition. Add to that 9mm and I will even raise you the .357 magnum/9mm conversion revolver. The Taurus 692 or Ruger Blackhawk convertible both use all three of what might be the top , availability wise, centerfire cartridges.

Then there is also many carbine options in those three calibers.

Ultimate? I don't think so either, just typical overblown sales hype. It's all "ultimate" when selling whatever?

It is however a great round. One of favorites, lot of untapped potential in there. Lot more bang for the buck compared to many rounds too. Usually less expensive than 357 Mag or 38 ammo. Availability? Is sometimes surprising where finding ammo. In the .327 Fed Mag "corral" of 32's, usually find in small shops. Larger places around here, not so much. But, recently found 32 H&R Mag HP ammo at a fair price in a big box store, so never know?

My buddy accidentally bought a box of it when he meant to buy .357 mag. Now he don’t know what to do with it.
Would love to find some .327FM around here. Many people around here have never heard of .327FM. They tend to think am talking about .357Mag. and got confused until explain.
