Is the FBI telling the truth on their stats ?

Apparently the FBI is not being truthful with their records to suit their narrative :

Of course there not stating correct facts, it doesn’t fit the narrative of this current administration

I have no way of verifying how accurate their numbers on armed citizens thwarting attacks actually are, however, my hunch is that the numbers cited in that article are low (and I'm sure the actual number is pretty squishy, given that many such incidents go unreported).

On the other hand, it's also worth noting that in the FBI's own stats that they publish on homicide rates, broken down by weapon-type used, (link) there is a great deal of useful, factual info that completely undermines a lot of the anti-2A arguments.

For example, more people were killed each and every year between 2015-2019 by "blunt instruments" (clubs, hammers, pipes, etc) than by all rifles. If we assume that "modern sporting rifles" are an even smaller subset of the "rifles" category, then this really puts the supposed threat of MSRs to the public in clear perspective. To hear the media and the anti-2A crowd tell it, people are being mowed down left and right in this country every day by AR-15s, yet the facts available on the FBIs own website make it very clear that we should be a lot more afraid of "blunt instruments"....that is, if we actually base our fears on objective data rather than hyperbole.

I point people to this link all the time to counter a lot of misperceptions about gun violence.

I do not think the FBI stats are valid for a majority of the US.

"In 2019, the FBI began changing the format in which crime statistics were reported."
"IMPD reports its numbers to ISP which forwards them to the FBI, but the city’s and state’s computers don’t communicate and speak the same language. Therefore, the Indianapolis numbers don’t make it into the final report."
"While only 36% of the state’s police departments accurately report their statistics, less than 60% of agencies nationwide comply with the new FBI format, leading federal authorities to plug estimated data into the upcoming 2021 report."

Yup. What's that old saying about "statistics?"

Unfortunately, people still use them, when convenient, as though they are gospel truth.

Reason magazine did a good vid recently on specifically how stats are warped in the gun control argument:

The latest research confirms that guns are used more in self-defense than they are in crimes. A 2013 review of the literature by the National Research Council found that “almost all national survey estimates indicate that defensive gun uses by victims are at least as common as offensive uses by criminals, with estimates of annual uses ranging from about 500,000 to more than 3 million.” At the time of the 2013 report, there were nineteen surveys on the frequency of defensive gun uses. All found that defensive gun uses were prevalent. The vast majority of these surveys indicated that there are at least a million annual defensive gun uses. Of these, the most reliable survey found at least 2.1 million defensive uses of guns each year.
And.....
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, almost every major study on defensive gun use has found that Americans use their firearms defensively between 500,000 and 3 million times each year. Most instances never require anyone to pull the trigger.

The same FBI who told Zuckerberg a few days before the laptop story broke that they should be on guard for a “ Dump” of Russian disinformation regarding Hunter Biden. Which provably they knew was NOT Russian or disinformation.

So even though everyone knows the FBI, CIA and countless government agents and elected officials routinely commit treason, fraud and corruption, absolutely nothing will be done about it and apparently instead of laying low in the face of overwhelming evidence of corruption and political bias, Merrick Garland and the FBI are doubling down.

All these government agencies staffed by unelected agents with no accountability are running roughshod over the constitution and have been for years with absolutely no fear of repercussions. And the media is running interference for them.

And they wonder how a guy like Donald Trump could get elected.

Now it makes a lot of sense why both political parties, the “ intelligence community” and the mainstream media began attacking him before he was even elected don’t it.
