Good story, is the revolver dead? I think not as of now, it seems like there making a good comeback just like the 10mm did. There are lots of new revolvers out there that seem pretty promising, like the Kimber to name one.

Hahahaha....no. No, they aren't dead. I can do things with my 686 that none of my autos can touch and I just got done testing a box of Buffalo Bore 340gr +p+ rounds in my Super Redhawk. Good luck putting that kind of punch through an auto. Like the author said, a good revolver is worth a lot more than hipster points.

Am thinking revolvers are here to stay for many of us.

My 1st encounter with a FL cop and a revolver goes back a few.... days. In the late 1950's early 1960's had an accident severely cutting one of my thighs wide open. My mother was escorted to the hospital's ER by a good Fl cop. Dr. Came in looked at both of my eyes. Cop said "Thighs not eyes doc!" - While doctor was stitching leg up, cop distracted me by letting me play around with his unloaded revolver. Then, gave us money for an ice cream cone on the way home. Nice guy.... or so I thought at the time? Should have almost kicked the cop, am still playing around with revolvers....and still eating ice cream cones. Darned trouble maker? Some memories never fade? :)

...and? The worst part? The cop was a pro! Said he had a kid at home my age. So, what that likely means is he really knew how to "torture" kids! Am kidding, he was a great guy, I wish him well.

well, i don't think so.

right now, i own 3.5, and another on order.

the .5 is a 2" barrel, and in fact, my new one on order? is also a 2" barrel.....together, they make nearly 1 WHOLE GUN...lol

Some people would be appalled by that story. Kind of off topic but I have 2 similar stories.

I was installing vinyl siding on a house that belonged to a husband and wife, both of whom were St. Louis County police officers. This was a long time ago before Missouri had CC. There was a bill to allow concealed carry coming up in the next election called Proposition B ( which was defeated with the help of money from The St. Louis Cardinals, Anhueser Busch, Walmart and several other social justice warrior corporations) and I asked the husband if he supported it. He told me he didn't ( His wife did though) and we had a discussion about guns and gun rights, etc.. At some point he handed me his loaded duty weapon ( some sort of Glock) to check out. Then he went in his house to get something he had forgotten, leaving me standing in his driveway with his loaded duty weapon.

Another time me and a buddy of mine were in my backyard shooting my Super Blackhawk .44 Mag. One of my neighbors called the police ( it is not illegal to shoot on my property out here where I live). So as we're out back chatting between shooting this county cop walks back and asks me if we've been shooting. I tell him we have and ask him if that's a problem. He says it isn't, but since a neighbor called he had to come check it out. Apparently this lady thought 200+ shots fired was not indicative of someone target shooting, but was probably some sort of crime. Anyway, he says he has to come and see where and what I'm shooting and all that. So I show him my little range and my Super Blackhawk. Before it's over the officer is shooting my Super Blackhawk and I am shooting his duty weapon ( another Glock). Before he leaves he tells me if the lady calls again he will just assume it's me target shooting.

if another pandemic, or panic buying comes up, everyone will run for semi-automatics, leaving nothing but revolvers left in the display cases.

best to have one or 2 revolvers, and have fun shooting them, gaining experience with them as well.

might be more ammo for revolvers than semi-automatics as well.

i am not having any problems getting .357 mag or .38 special, either new or reloaded.

Where do you live!? I can't find .357 mag or .38 spl to safe my life. Oddly 9mm is way easier to find here.
 
I don't think the revolver is dead either. Not as many round, slower for reloads but just as quick to shoot and less likely to have a jam of some type. I have never seen anybody demonstrating how to clear a stovepipe with a revolver. :) Not that a revolver is foolproof, but just a little less finicky.

I currently own a H&R Sportsman .22, a S&W mod 60 .38spl, a Colt Trooper MkIII .357mag, a Colt Trooper MkV .357mag, A Colt Python .357mag early (1982) model, a Colt Python .357mag new (2020) model, A Gold plated Ruger, Super Blackhawk .44mag ND commemorative model. Recently gave several others to my yard son when I had to scale down.

Might I have a few more in my lifetime? .... Very likely I will !!! I still really like them ..... a lot !!! Jus' sayin' !!!

Judging from the prices and lack of availability, I'd say revolvers are experiencing a resurgence. The only possible threat that I see revolvers facing is the lack of ammo. 9mm and 5.56/.223 ammo are starting to show up on shelves in my area, but I haven't seen any .357 Magnum or .38 Special for almost a year.
 
I love my dad's old '51 Colt 4" OP (.38spl). Fun to plink with, nice to have "just in case".

Had it on my hip one evening when they were flying choppers over the neighborhood, looking for an escapee of some sort. Talking with my neighbor (9mm) and his wife (12ga) in their driveway when a sheriff rolled up and asked if we lived there, were we all OK, had we had seen anything... "Nope". "OK, call us if you do?" as he eyes up our preparedness. "Sure...before? Or after?"

He smiled, tipped his hat and wished us a great evening as he got back in his cruiser to leave.

If I remember correctly, another household called 911 that evening....after.

The escapee was unable to cause any further problems.
 
I love my revolvers. I just picked up a S&W 627 from the custom shop and restocked it with the Hogue 1pc tropical hardwood grips. Then had my gunsmith take the internals to the next level with a high polish and trigger job beyond what S&W did at the shop. It is butter.

I love my Ruger revolvers but everything about Smiths is just right. They cracked the code on revolvers and it shows.
 
I'm a fan of .22 Magnum revolvers. I've been trying to find one of the new 8-shot Taurus 942 models since they were announced over a year ago. I finally found one this week. The gun was out-of-stock within hours of becoming available on the site where I purchased it. If the revolver platform was "dying", shooters would not have to wait a year to find one and they wouldn't be selling-out in less than a day.
