Is this worth the time

Hellcat

I remember seeing this many years ago in some gun magazine. I believe there was a company that made and sold a tool for this. It never caught on. I don't think the results were worth the effort.
There are already plenty of good .22 hollow points out there. Why bother with this?

Only one firearm I could think of that might benefit from this. Firing this modified ammo out of an NAA revolver.

I have a .22LR NAA with the 1.625" BBL. No HP is going to expand out of this short barrel so having a flat point might make it work a little better for defense.

Would it be worth the effort to modify the solid bullets just for that use ? I doubt it. Plus when it comes to shooting pests , I have killed ground hogs with .22LR HPs so I know they will kill smaller varmints just fine.

Aguila Interceptors.

40gr Copper Plated Solid FP.

Carry load in my S&W 43C.

Only if the regular rounds weren't doing the job on varmints and I was too cheap to buy something that worked better and I didn't want to waste an open box of ammo would I even consider giving it to try. :)

Nothing like shaving a few hundred rounds of lead bullets and having the dust all over the place then getting it on your hands when cleaning it up. It's bad enough when shooting a lot of .22 and having the black thumbs after all the magazine loading.
