Keep in mind, RFL is a civil matter.
Petitioner must legitimize their complaint to the court and is advised of the penalty of perjury.
Emergency petition for firearm retrieval requires search warrant.
Lawfully attained and possessed firearms can be returned by petition.
RFL have been used in the past to take demented grandpas guns away, the same for allegations of domestic violence all for good reason. At this time I’m not worried about door-to-door emergency RFL implementation coming because of some a terrified neighbor. Manpower to do this sort of operation doesn't exist and still requires sufficient probable cause. I think RFL has the potential to implode due to misuse, pranks, cranks and unsubstantiated claims, to otherwise avoid another “swatting” craze from a few years ago.
Location, location, location. Not everyone lives in CA,IL, NJ, et al.
We seem to be getting these zany “laws” from the global influences weirdos. I read today that a across the northern border, an official announce the people do not have “The absolute right to own private property”. So I could see this sort of crack-pottery trickling down.
The RFL, although nothing new, is a low level tool that can be reworked many times over.
Its reasonably to think there is some level of retribution on the horizon from this administration.
